Lightseekers is an action-adventure, role-playing, multi-platform Toys-to-Life franchise developed by PlayFusion. It encompasses the Lightseekers video game, comics, posters, action-figures, trading cards and more. It was officially released on July 1st, 2017 and now has made its way to steam. Steams official release date was January 31st, 2019.
The Lightseekers trading card game is a standalone physical game that includes 385+ lovingly crafted printed cards. Each of these cards are also scannable by the Lightseekers video game to unlock in-game effects such as new boosts, spells or even pets! Each card is embedded with a one time in-game bonus.
How does Lightseekers play?
The game play overall is pretty simple. Each player has a hero they can use from either the starter pack or from one of the many other heroes mixed into the booster packs at random. There are six orders in the game. Tech, mountain, dread, storm, nature, and astral – each of which contain three elements. Each set is unique and has their own quirks and traits that set them apart from one another.
Each deck is made up of 36 total cards; 1 hero, 30 action cards, and 5 combo cards. Each deck can only contain 1 copy of any particular combo card but can have 3 of any one action card.
Each hero is different in which elements they give us which will determine what cards you can play. They also come with a unique trait that can also be used each turn if you choose to spend an action point on that ability.
You will also have an arsenal of several different types of cards as you hack away at the enemy’s health – attack and defend cards that often have one-time effects, buff cards that can frequently remain on the field for multiple turns (with a fun rotating card concept to track rounds), and combo cards that require you to discard (but don’t worry, they get shuffled back into your deck for later use!) a number of other cards to trigger powerful abilities. As stated above you can only have a 5 combo cards so use them wisely!
There is much more to this game but it is best to experience it for your self! I for one enjoy the game and hope to see you give it a shot too! You can click the $0.00 ad below to download the game for free! Or if you are interested in the physical cards they are available on Amazon as well.
