Crackdown 3, set to finally be released on February 15, 2019, will be an “open-world sandbox of mayhem and destruction” with both solo and co-op modes. It also has “Wrecking Zone” the “ultimate multiplayer combat arena” where players will be able to battle it out in a fully-destructible world.
Crackdown 3 will also be apart of the Xbox Game Pass subscription scheme. So if you have your monthly membership you will be able to play for free when it finally does arrive. This will include PC.
Crackdown 3 well have a couple of neat new features. First is the inclusion of destructible environments. This will be in the competitive multiplayer mode, Wrecking Zone, in which the entire city will be destructible. They are also introducing an all new system known as “Gangs Bite Back”, in which a boss’s or a Kingpin’s attention can be drawn to the player upon destroying locations and elements that they specialize in. Gang members can retaliate for these actions at any time and in any place. If enough retaliations are beaten back, the bosses and Kingpins can come for the player personally.
According to an interview between Polygon.com and Matt Booty – Head of Microsoft studios – they were a few reasons for the delay. At one point Matt Booty stated “we really want to make games that have the opportunity to become a franchise that can sit next to Halo, sit next to Gears.”
To me it sounds like they are putting in the time to ensure its a well polished game vs rushing the game out and everyone feeling “cheated” or as if the game isn’t complete. I for one and all for this. I don’t know about you but I am pretty excited to check this game out in few weeks!
